What is Home Visiting?

Home VisitsHMG Home Visiting and Maternal Infant Early Child Home Visiting (MIECHV) are voluntary programs that provides first time expectant or new parents the information and support they need to be prepared for the birth of their child and to provide ongoing education and support.

Are you eligible?

Give us a call at 419-221-0014. We change here and here will discuss all home visiting options with you and find the program that best fits your family.

Pregnant women can have home visits, too. Don’t hesitate to ask.

A Home Visitor will meet with your family in your home. Together, you and the Home Visitor will discuss your family’s goals and dreams for the future. A Family Plan with Goals will be developed to help your family meet these dreams as a family and for your child.

Home Visits are recommended to be held weekly the first 4 weeks then twice a month until your child is six months old but this can be determined by you and the Home Visitor. Home Visitors follow the Healthy Families America model.

Visits consist of:

  • Child developmental screenings including regular checks for walking, talking, playing, seeing, and hearing
  • Information on child development and activities which help children grow
  • Parenting tips to help your child learn
  • Community Referrals as needed
  • Assist with transition to a preschool program by age 3 when appropriate

All services are free and confidential
