BEHAVIOR SUPPORT

ACBDD-Color-Bar.jpg

At times, individuals or families need services that will enhance or support non-typical actions or behaviors. When necessary or requested, a Behavior Support Specialist will complete an assessment and develop strategies, which will be detailed in the Individual Service Plan (ISP). Most of the time, only positive supportive assistance is needed. On the rare occasion a restrictive measure is needed due to significant risk of harm or legal sanction, the recommendation by the Behavior Support Specialist and team is reviewed by the Human Rights Committee of Allen County. If approved, the plan and progress is then formally reviewed, at least every 90 days, by the individual’s team. Behavior Support Specialists are available to work with families or provider staff to develop strategies to use at home, school and the community.
