The Help Me Grow program is designed to ensure Ohio’s children receive a healthy birth and the resources to warrant a healthy and productive start in life. An integral part of Ohio’s prenatal to age three system of supports, the services offered by Help Me Grow equip parents with the means to help their child acquire the early building blocks necessary for long term success. These initial achievements last a lifetime, as scientific evidence strongly suggests that a child’s success is significantly determined by the quality of nurturing in the first three years of life. It is important to give children the best start at life and with several programs and services available through the Help Me Grow program parents and caregivers can do just that. Early Intervention programs, home visits, and the MIECHV program only scratch the surface of how the Help Me Grow program can help build and nurture the growth of your children.
Early Intervention
Early Intervention provides family centered service coordination for infants and toddlers to age 3 with a developmental delay, disability or medical condition likely to result in a delay or disability. Families enrolled in the Early Intervention program receive services depending on the specific needs of the child.

Home Visits
HMG Home Visiting is a voluntary program that provides first time expectant or new parents the information and support they need to be prepared for the birth of their child and to provide ongoing education and support.
Home visits are recommended to be held weekly and consist of:
developmental screenings – meeting milestones: walking, talking, playing, hearing, vision
information on activities to help your child develop
parenting tips
community referrals
assist with transition into a preschool program
MIECHV
Maternal Infant Early Child Home Visiting (MIECHV) provides pregnant women and parents with assistance and support to help promote positive parenting skills and reduce the incidences of child abuse and neglect. Home Visitors supports parents before the birth of their child through weekly home visits, parent education and guidance, and social support to promote maternal and child health and child development during the crucial first five years of life.
