Project STIR

Project STIR stands for Steps Toward Independence and Responsibility

Individuals can learn how to be a self-advocate.

The program will teach you how to:

  • Communicate your wants and needs effectively
  • Solve problems
  • Negotiate
  • Be part of the community

You will learn these skills through hands-on activities, role playing, small group discussions and more. After you complete the program, there will be regular opportunities to meet with other STIR participants to review and build upon your skills. We offer training three to four times a year.

Once you have completed the STIR training, you are part of the “Just Do It Crew”. The Just Do It Crew meets monthly to practice using the tools that you have learned.  The Just Do It Crew meeting dates, times and locations vary, so call for more information.
